Antiglot II: the Sequel Album

Antiglot (2017) was an experimental album composed only using vocal layers and body sounds. It was produced by taking input sounds and producing them as though they were instruments, with lead vocals set atop. There were no actual instruments used in the composition, and no lyrics. It was an equally energetic and cathartic collection of songs — sometimes meditative, sometimes invigorating — inspired by the contemporary American political climate. As a person who speaks multiple languages is called a “polyglot,” Walsh coined the term “antiglot” for the album title, referencing that there are no lyrics, and no languages spoken.

Today, Walsh announces Antiglot II (OMGBTW Records): the sequel to that first Antiglot album. There are still no lyrics, and the music is again composed using only vocal layers and body sounds, but this time they are not about political turmoil. The songs are sonic diary entries of emotion Walsh experienced through travel (“Derb Chtouka” is a street in Marrakech, “Wimberley” is a small town in Texas, “Medellin” is the capital of Antioquia, Colombia), through viewing art (“Hilma Swan” and “Final Swan” are responses to the 2018 Guggenheim showing of the lifetime collection of Hilma af Klint), and through meditation in nature. Antiglot II is out on all DSP's on August 26th 2022.
