RIP Grandma

My grandmother died this weekend. This is a picture of her and her mother, on the day of her wedding to my grandfather. She and I were never extraordinarily close, but we are extraordinarily similar in a lot of ways. I think we both knew this about each other. I have very early memories of her, wordless memories from before I was a talker. And I have recent memories of her, her house, last Christmas. She had a painting of mine on her wall, a picture of a hot air balloon. She loved hot air balloons, and flowers, and frogs, and birds, and disguising her face on the internet with Photoshop. She had a blog that I loved to read. When I was a kid we watched Animaniacs together. I’m glad she got to meet and have a meal with Christian before she went. She didn’t want a funeral or an obituary, but I can’t not write about her. She was in my life, for my entire life, and she never had any problems with me or who I am. I love her, and I miss her.

You know that frog you gave her for Christmas? I have it for you.

I am sorry for your loss of your grandmother.
I looked at her blog – I would have loved to see her garden — no wonder you are the person you are – you both have such exquisite taste and yearning for beauty and know how to share it with others.
I hope you don’t mind my intrusion but I truly believe you are one of the true artists in this world, even if you just snap your fingers.

I am so glad that you understand and cherish your Grandmother. Your message will not be forgotten and I do wish that she could read it. You did miss one other thing that she loved, and that was you. Your Grandpa
