I Forgot My Name
My shoot with Shannen Doherty from a few weeks ago ran in OK! magazine, so I’m able to post some of them now. Like I said back then, she was great to work with! I don’t love the shot the magazine chose (last thumbnail below), but it’s not bad. I think some of the others were better.
There’s lots of good new big-pop music that I’ve been listening to, and I’m not ashamed! Beyonce, Kanye, The Killers, and of course Britney. One of my favorite new Britney songs wasn’t even on the album. Sarah pointed out that “Amnesia” (below) sounds like Santogold, and I see that. Mostly in the delivery. I think it’s what Rachel Sweet would be singing if she were a pop singer in 2008 instead of the 70s and 80s. Retro with a new sort of production, with a big sound. “Cuckoo Clock” (below) isn’t really a great example of this, but it’s all I could find on the internet in ten seconds.
I played Rachel Sweet’s version of “New Age” for Gideon Yago and he made me turn it off. But then, what does he know about music (please ignore his MTV resume…)? Rachel Sweet is one of those artists that my mom played for me my entire life and now I can’t imagine not having her music. I love her. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a lot of huge stars, but I would absolutely kill to meet – or work with – Rachel. A song, a photo shoot, even just a handshake. Someone has to work this out for me!

Amnesia’s production quality and overall arrangement is far superior to much of the tracks they chose for Circus; I wonder why they excluded it? Kanye’s new album is seriously epic. It’s a testament to his production skills that such a distinct, heavy mood can be carried throughout the entire disc’s runtime. Cannot wait for the SL remix! Rachel Sweet woulda knocked Brit’s version of Amnesia outta the park, man. I’m rooting for Britney, I really am, but facts are facts.

I like Circus but I wouldn’t call it the greatest but it is good to see that Britney going back to her pop princess kingdom. I always hoped for a positive recovery… Amy Whinehouse on the other hand, we keep wondering what the hell? and when is she going to die?.
As always, you are great with the camera. xo
