Sister From A Different Mister

Halloween this year was a lot of fun and a lot of moving. It started with a shoot; I photographed Shannen Doherty for a feature in OK! Magazine, which will run in a few weeks. Geneva came to assist with setup and test shots, and I got some good ones of her, too. I’ll show some of the photos here after the issue is on stands, but in the meantime here’s a Brenda & Brad Walsh family portrait:
Shannen said that when she saw my website, she wondered if people made the Walsh connection with me when 90210 was airing in the 90s, and I told her that yes, they did. Every damn day of my life. “Are you related to Brandon Walsh?” Of course not. That is not a real person. “Is Brenda Walsh your sister?” No, Brenda Walsh is a character played by Shannen Doherty. That’s a stupid question. Drove me nuts until high school when most people forgot about it.
But Shannen was really easy to work with, and she was super nice and hugged us goodbye. I have to admit I was a bit trepid going on because she has a reputation of being difficult to work with, and even though she did explain a lot to us about her well-publicized germophobia, she was forthright about it all and frank about what she needs in a non-bitchy way. That’s kind of a strange sentence. I liked her, is what I’m saying.
Later that night Christian and I went to Heidi Klum’s Halloween party. Heidi went to the extreme; google her costume. Christian was Cruella Deville and I was a Dalmatian; his assistant Sam made our costumes and they were amazing! We were all standing on the red carpet, me pulling up my fur tights and having nothing to say to Extra or TV Guide, and Heidi asked why I wasn’t on a leash on all fours. I said “Heidi, that’s always your suggestion” (it is). Inside, I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around thinking it was another person wanting a picture of Christian, but it was Pink, telling me she really loved our costumes and thought they were amazing. We got to talk to her a bit and she was super cool, and we danced at our table for a bit before heading home.
The next night we went to Sam’s for another Halloween party – always kind of weird to be in costume when it’s the day after – but then everybody else arrived in costume and it was lots of fun. We got home and proceeded to spend the night and the next day watching Heroes on instant Netflix. I had never seen it before recently and now I’m watching it all. It’s really watered down and predictable – as Kathy says, it’s “Lost for Dummies” – but I am now sucked in.
