For Us By Us

You ever have those moments, or full days, even, of feeling dramatic? Well, dramatic isn’t the right word, because it conjures up images of gay boys and drunk girls getting in each others’ faces and talking shit about each other in basements. I don’t know what word to use instead, but I mean, everything feels pronounced, emotional (not depressing)… I don’t know. I suppose it sounds like PMS, but sincerely, I am not a female.

This is absolutely ridiculous, but for the last two nights I’ve slept with a lamp on and a Diddy song playing on repeat until the morning, and I wake up feeling this way. It’s cold at night and I’m under a blanket in my extraordinarily comfortable bed, and then “Last Night” (the one with Keyshia Cole that I mentioned yesterday) plays on repeat. The beats are simple, the tempo is moderate, and then those Castlevania synths come in and I’m in heaven. I kind of wish it was just her singing because he sounds little odd. But the retro feel of the song really gets to me. It’s along the same lines of what Felix Da Housecat’s “Ready 2 Wear” did for me when I first got it a couple years ago. A standout easy retro song that repeats itself; a perfect womb soundtrack when the lights are low.

Some random pictures:

This is my FUBU-wearing white brother (sixteen now) at homecoming, as scanned and e-mailed to me by my mother:

This is him a year ago, as photographed by me on the day he had to go to court for breaking and entering (he didn’t wear the hat):

This is my mom’s living room (which I miss) before she ripped up the carpet and rearranged the furniture. My art on the walls. She made the table:

This is me and Anna at Rated X when she was hosting a few weeks ago:

This is me in ninth grade in Ohio:

This is me now:

I have since stopped smiling with my teeth. Or maybe at all. EMO!

I still can’t believe how old Brad is/looks….I still vividly remember him chasing me around your house on 200th St. with a blanket over his head talking to me in a really creepy voice until I locked myself in the bathroom, scared to death ;o
