That’s Hot
There is a heat wave happening, but I am cold and in a hoodie because the air conditioning in my office is always on high. I have been warming my hands under a desk lamp all day.
I got the strangest letter ever in the mail last week from someone in Croatia. I left it at home and I’m at work now, so I don’t have it right in front of me. But it’s easily the weirdest envelope anyone’s ever sent me. It’s on the crazy side of the fan mail spectrum. Inside was a barely legible letter written in extremely broken English (understandable, it’s from Croatia), an awkward photo of the sender, and a few postcards.
I won’t go into the details because he may read this, but he divulged a lot for a stranger, and he said he likes “young boys.” I’m chalking a lot of the creep factor up to the level of foreignness that he seems to experience with the English language, but word choice was certainly cringeworthy.
Speaking of, I was asked by SarahB to read again at tomorrow’s Cringe at Freddy’s Back Room in Brooklyn. It’s being filmed for ABC’s Nightline, and a news guy called me last week to find out what’s gonna go down. I don’t know. I’m going to read something, I haven’t decided what yet, but it will most certainly be from my high school journal and it will most certainly be embarrassing. It might be most of the same stuff I read a few months ago when it was supposed to be a rundown for a TV pilot. Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8pm. Come see.
