I don’t listen to a whole lot of R&B, but there are a few things here and there that stop me in my tracks whenever I hear them. I think that Brandy’s Afrodisiac and Toni Braxton’s More Than A Woman are two of the most underrated albums of the last few years, and I’ve been listening to “I Tried” (Brandy) all morning. Relating.

Last night was my first run as the Stolen Transmission photard at Annex. It was Brandon Reilly’s birthday and Dan Keyes’ (Young Love) ST single release. Gurj DJed and Karen brought around some Art Bruts and one We Are Scientist. Sarah is still the cutest person on the planet. And Sloan was there!

I don’t know if I swoon harder over Brandon or Dan, but I think Brandon might win this round out because he gave me a kiss on the cheek. And then I peed in my pants and my head exploded.

Update: Oh man… I am a Craigslist missed connection. Ladies, what if it’s the Lone Brooder?? Alyssa would be so happy for me.
Today in line at an unnamed clothing store, the guy at the next register was giving me the eyes. I was enjoying it because he was cute, and then he turned the other way and had what looked like a knife scar on his cheek. Then he was hot.
Last night at HiFi I posed Alyssa, Diana, Emily, Samantha, and Sarah.

Actually, I drive a Mazda. And I park it where I please.
But I actually am a photographer, and apparently I’m not entirely terrible, because Sarah asked me to come on over and be the Stolen Transmission Thursdays photographer, which will be lots of fun! As if you didn’t already have enough reason to go to Annex every Thursday (the fantastic music, the sexy DJs, the amazing bands, the swanky digs), now I’ll be there to take your picture. The only thing that could make it better would be Jude Law naked in the corner. And hey, you never know. Sienna showed at MisShapes.
And if you didn’t catch my photos in Urb and HX a few months ago, you can see some in the June issue of Attitude and the July issue of Spin.
Maybe I will finally update my website’s photo section sometime soon.
I am a photographer!

With her new hair, does Kathy more closely resemble a gypsy princess or a pale shadow of a woman (she’s a dragon)?
Does Janelle always turn into a pole dancer at midnight? And would it be any different if she was wearing glass slippers?

Does the D train ever come in a timely fashion? NO. THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS NO.
Are Boy Kendra’s closed eyes or Girl Derek’s Maxim rack the best part of Outsideshapes?
Freebie. I love Beckie.
Was this little girl with her red dress, pink purse, and white shoes our very own summertime Valentine?
Yesterday, I was beyond thrilled to see green (we don’t have trees here in the Big City, Country Mouse), and Kathy took a bunch of pictures of me rolling around hungover and falling asleep in the grass. I had a sinus headache by the time we left, but it was worth it.

Kathy’s dad surprised everyone at Mother’s Day dinner by grilling filet mignon and lobster tails for all, and I finally understood the allure of “surf & turf.”
Lenny ate the leftovers of kings.
I want Kathy’s dad’s A Christmas Story leg lamp. I want it.
Also, Kathy has to write a letter to a Dame in Wales, and we can’t figure out how she is supposed to address the woman (“Dame X”? “The Right Honourable Madame Dame”?). She found this website. Look at how many ways there are to address people formally. My new life goal is to become someone that people are legally required to address as “The Right Honourable.”

Last night found me haunting two releases. The first was at Boudoir for Danica Lo’s book How Not to Look Fat, which I have to say is flimsy. As a book idea, I thought it was ridiculous, but I conceded when I read the back and found that it’s based on a recurring Post column. So, okay. I guess that’s fine, columns regularly become books. But the book says something on the cover about being for women who love their body. It’s not for women who love themselves or are comfortable with the way they look; the title tells us that it’s quite obviously for women who think they’re imperfect and want to look thinner than they are. And it’s written by a “former plus-size model.” I love when women who are proud of being big lose a bunch of weight and then change their mind. Like Missy Elliott turning it over and saying “if you’s a fat one put your clothes back on / before you start putting pot holes in my lawn.” Do you not remember yourself six months ago? And Star Jones can suck a broken light bulb for telling women that happiness comes from “being healthy” when she had her stomach cut off in a hospital room.

Anyway. Conrad DJed, and it was nice to see him and his worried face. He may be going to London for a long time, which would be very sad for me but a very good thing for him. I saw nary a hologrammed partygoer, as all of the Boudoir press mentions. The gift bags were polka-dotted and included a bunch of girl stuff that I gave to Kathy, and a tub of Jonathan Dirt, which I will be interested to try out.

Was this little tub of hair junk worth all the hullabaloo that he raised over its production? I don’t think I like Jonathan.
Next up was the release party at Annex for Radio 4’s new record. They played some new stuff and some older stuff, all of which sounded very good. The new guitarist (Dave?) was totally hot.

Abbey from Punkphoto was there, and it was nice to see her again.

There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on tonight, but I might just stay home and watch a movie. I found out something right before bed last night that really pissed me off – someone was really dishonest with me and one of his friends told me about it – and I’m still not in a particularly fun mood.
But I refuse to have a bad night! I will put on my green shorts and a t-shirt! I will watch a terrible movie and drink 151 and probably call Matt!

Yes, that is a real child eating a real boiled monkey head. And I thought salisbury steak days at St. Robert’s were bad.
Heads up: tonight it will be ConBrad in the DJ booth at Boudoir (I’m not spinning, just there to be happy) for Danica Lo’s book release, and then I am going to try to get over to Annex to take pictures of Radio 4 and stick around for lovely Gurj’s birthday hullabaloo. I will buy her a liquid gift.
Yesterday in Brushes With Genius, I spied a diminutive Amy Sedaris in SoHo (of course) looking fantastic; much more an indie princess than I would have thought she would venture out into public resembling. Not since [my admittedly strange point of fixation] Jackée was I quite so excited to be in the presence of a familiar stranger.

It’s that time again…
At AddVice’s First Taste at Hi-Fi last night, did Emily get caught in the middle of an alien abduction?
Did Sarah (the smokinest hostess this side of the Ganges) have a sort of awkward conversation with a boy while five of us blatantly stared and tried to read lips because we knew the backstory?
Did Richie see a ghost? Or is going for the Anderson Cooper?
Um, is that Richie’s other hand? Down there? Or… what is that?
Did I call Diana on all her talk and actually go in for the kill after she insinuated that because my cookie looked like a boob, I must enjoy eating boobs?
Did Kathy join a sex cult? Or is she going for the Dita Von Teese?
Is the Hi-Fi jukebox rocking some Brad Walsh, and is it true that by typing the code “2242″ one can hear my mother singing a chorus in a hip bar in New York City?
Was that car real or were we part of the painting?

When will all the grown ass men at the office stop missing the urinal and peeing on the floor?
